Alanson Visitor’s Guide Overview

The Village of Alanson is located in picturesque Emmet County where the enjoyment of all the seasonal activities from boating, fishing and motorcycling to skiing and snowmobiling and hunting is some of the best Michigan has to offer.

Surrounded by the Mackinaw State forest and within minutes to Lake Michigan and many inland lakes allows space for everyone to enjoy this beautiful area. Of course the Fall colors bring everyone out for a drive or hike in the woods but the Spring does also with hunting for the tasty Morel mushrooms.

For the shopper, the choices are from the high end stores of Bay Harbor, Harbor Springs and Petoskey to one of a kind and unique Mom & Pop stores in Alanson or nearby Charlevoix, Indian River and Mackinaw City that make exploring the nooks and crannies of the area to find that one item that says it all.

Petoskey, Burt Lake, and Maple Bay State campgrounds, Camp Pet-o-Sega, along with Alanson’s own Crooked River RV Park are all nearby for camping. If camping is not for you check out one of the cozy little Mom & Pop motels. There is something for whatever your overnight arrangements may needs.

Peace and serenity is also abound if you prefer by walking the miles of hiking trails or beaches or by just floating lazily down the river in a canoe. There is something for everyone to enjoy in this paradise we call home in Northern Michigan.
